HELP, I need a good quality 1/4" stereo TRS male to stereo RCA female adapter

As the title says, this will be for use with my RME 96/8 PAD when it arrives. I know Headroom sells this one, but has anyone used it and do you know if it will hurt the sound quality at all? I'm obviously looking for one that's as transparent as possible. Thanks.

Is this because you are looking to use your Heartland cables with it? What is your planned signal path? You don't want to go with a 1/4" Stereo -> RCA males?

Well, yes I wanted to get a solid adapter with no cables, so that I could use my existing IC's. That way I wouldn't have to spend a bunch on a new set of cables terminated to a TRS jack on one end. I've found some like that which are "pro-audio" but would they sound as good as my current IC's?

Anyone?

Hi
I am facing the same problem too.
I am thinking DIY or ask someone to DIY a adaptor like this. I am thinking using the Vampire Female RCA plug, Vampire TRS 1/4' stereo plug and CAT5 cable to make the adaptor. Of course we can use the homegrown silver wires or anything else. I even want to cryo it. But it is not worth it if only make 1 or 2. If we got enough demand I think we can ask someone to do this for us.

I'd guess Dan at Heartland cable would put together one for pretty cheap. (He doesn't charge much more than the price it would cost for a one-off batch anyways).

People will argue about adapters and such for sq, but another important point to consider is the stress placed on the jacks. Adapters typically increase the leverage the cable has on the jack, so I like to avoid them for that reason alone (that's why the Grado 1/4"->1/8" headphone adapter is so popular).

What did you think of the Hosa adapter I used?

I haven't noticed any problems with it. I would probably need an oscilliscope to notice any signal degradation.

West LA Music has quite a few 1/4 TRS adapters. I picked the Y Cable mainly for stress relief, your Rat Shack adapter stack just puts too much weight on the jack, if heavy cables are used.

You're not liking your custom Headphile cable?

I oughta take a close look at all the junk at West LA music. Not much there in terms of headphone stuff though They probably have what you need. I'd call to be sure though, parking is a hassle, as usual.

Don't worry about it fellas. You won't be able to tell the difference with the RME and the computer.

This is a very old thread, from before the time when I knew about Headphile, or had their cables. Obviously I've solved my problem. Someone with a similar question decided to resurrect the thread.

LOL, I didn't even notice. It didn't make sense that you would want to go back to an adapter.

Well, maybe someone will find a nice adapter through this thread.
