I'm living in Singapore, and the last time I tried to make an LOD I had to buy parts from friends (and scrounge them up from an electrical engineer friend I happened to have), and my first LOD's parts cost me roughly 10US, not counting the SPC wire and without heatshrink. Anyone knows of a website/websites which sell 30 pin connectors, 3.5mm connectors (preferably by Neutrik/Switchcraft), wires and heatshink which won't impose shipping charges that could equal the purchase amount?
