Dumb newbie question

Thread Starter

I feel sorta silly.  I have been using all portable gear and then I bought some CDs with music.

The only CD player I have is on my computer.  The last thing I bought a long time ago was a turntable, receiver, speakers, etc... so I have no idea how to do CD.  Is the computer adequate to read CD music?

thanks for your help in advance.

Yes...your computer will have a media player program which will play the CDs

PC CD drives can be quite noisy sometimes, you could "rip" the CDs and play back the digital files which might be less noisy, but worry about that only if the drive is noisy.

The computer will work, but do you have a DVD player around? I think that all of them play CDs - hook it into your system and give it a listen.

Great tip Uncle Erik, I never thought about using the DVD player over the computer

You could also just convert the music on the CD to mp3 or FLAC and then use a program like Foobar

Yes, the computer is perfectly adequate to read CD music.

That is all I have used for my Audio CDs since the late -90s.
