My pioneer connects via USB to my ipod, there was nothing special about it.  A lot of decks have this.

My Pioneer Elite Home Theater Receiver does too, but keep in mind, it's NOT the digital signal it pulls from your iPod. It's simply the unattenuated signal that bypasses the iPods amp....but it is the analog signal.

If you want the digital signal, the iWadia maybe?

That makes sense - the reason I assumed it was digital was because via the usb dongle, I can use any usb device (like an sd card adapter even - which of course does not have a DAC built in.
