I just received an EF2A replacement, after the first one I bought had a "summing to mono" problem... and this one seems to be working properly. However... with any average sensitivity/impedance IE type phones... you can barely get off the "full off" setting of the volume control before its too loud. Anybody know if the gain can be reduced in the EF2A some way without modifications involving a soldering iron?

I am surprised at the very high gain as the one I had was not very loud at all.
Perhaps this is a new design ?
Are you using it as a DAC ? If so you can reduce the volume in the computer.
If not, reduce the volume at your source.
