You are lucky, so enjoy!  A few others including myself reported the fabric raising up enough to touch your ears constantly, as you do not have that problem you don't need to do anything.  The mod only changed the bass a bit.  Moving the fabric closer or further away will change the sound of any set of headphones.  Usually the closer you get, the more powerful and potent, the further away the more veiled and spacious sounding the bass gets.

I'm not sure. The sound quality is quite disappointing. Well, the bass isn't what I expect. Itscactually bleeding into the mids I THINK. The sound is...rough if you get what I mean

You clip the earpad underneath the clips on the housing the same way you removed the pads. The mod for the earpad with tape underneath is to stop the felt material inside the pad vibrating when you have your source on high volumes which causes slight rattling/distortion like bass.

I cut a small square out, from the fabric on the pads.

Grey are the ear pad cushions.

Hatch lines indicate the gauze-like material attached to the ear pad.

The yellow indicates the exposed driver grills after you cut out a small square from the fabric.

It sounds slightly brighter.

I had no problems with gauze-like cloth material rattling at high volume, even though I didn't do the mod described by OP.

Yall might want to give this a try.
