Newbie speaker wire polarity question

I just bought a new system yesterday. With it I got some Synergistic Research 2000 speaker cable, bare wire at each end. Please don't laugh, but I don't have a clue which wire is positive and which is negative.

One wire in the cable has greenish insulation on it and one has white/clear insulation; they are otherwise unmarked. I did check the Synergistic Research site - no help at all (no tech support info and their FAQ section is under construction.)

I know the color coding should make it obvious, but I'm totally ignorant about this stuff - please help!

Most likely the wires are physically the same. So it wouldn't matter which wire you used for what as long as you connected them to the same terminals at the amp and speaker.

Should it matter (which im sure it doesn't) use the green as the negative.

Thanks for the reply, qwerty870. I figured that as long as it was consistent, it didn't matter which I used as the positive and which I used for the negative. I just had a moment of panic when I looked at the speaker wires. I actually ended up putting the green wire on the positive posts. Seems to work fine.

Right. The color coding is just to help you make sure the wires don't get crossed - to +.
