Looking for something else.

Hi my 80g Ipod classic just died for no reason I had only used it when on holiday so very little running hours but it still stop working and as it is was out of warranty I threw it in the bin, so I'm quite pissed with Ipod and how it just bricked so easy.

So I am looking for something different the only thing It has to be bigger than 40gig but everything I look at seems to be tiny like 8g/16g what are the options for me, I don't mind if its touch screen or not or if I have to change the software firmware I just want something reliable that can play mp3s and video would be a plus but not essential.

Any advice would be appreciated thanks.

First, go get your iPod out of the trash.

Have you tried diagnosing it? Sometimes a hard reset and a full charge brings them back to life. If not, you most likely have a dead battery. There are instructions for opening an iPod and you can buy replacement batteries, too.

If you don't want to fool with it, get it out of the trash anyway. Then take a few photos and list it for sale in the For Sale Forum here. Someone here will want it for parts and you'll get some money to put towards a new player.

If its one thing I have lots of its mp3 / mp4 players. I would recommend the older Zune 80GB. Because of Best Buys awesome no questions asked return policy I had 4 HD players at home at the same time and then returned the three I didn't like, and ended up keeping the Zune.

Gear: Zune 80GB: Zune 8GB (want to sell): Zune HD16GB: iPod Touch 16GB: Sansa Fuze 4GB: Creative Zen 20GB: Onda vx767: Onda vx575: iToos T69HD: Cube B33FHD - it only last month occured to me to now start buying good headphones to get the most from these players.
