The Amusement Park Thread!

This thread is dedicated to all the amusement park junkies out there!

Share your favorite rollercoasters, thrill rides, parks, or any other amusement park feature!

Unfortunately, I have only been to 4 parks:

- Lagoon

- Disneyland

- Knott's Berry Farm

- Six Flags Magic Mountain

Out of those 4, Magic Mountain is obviously my favorite. I had a blast that day, and I hope I can go back again!

My favorite rollercoaster at Six Flags was: GCI's Terminator. Such a spectacular rollercoaster.

My most unfavorite rollercoaster at Six Flags was : Arrow's X2. Worst rollercoaster I've ever ridden.

I've only been to three.

In my home state of Ohio:

-Cedar Point

-Kings Island

I've also been to Disney World. Disney is definitely one of a kind as far as all round entertainment value.

I wish I've been to more places to compare, but I can't imagine that many places top cedar points roller coasters. If you are roller coaster junkie then you must make a trip to cedar point at some point.

Six Flags Great America is my favorite, it's about 70 minutes from my home. I love Raging Bull.

I've been to Disney World once for 3 days. Very nice. I'm not into traveling to see the great parks but I do buy season tickets to Busch Gardens Williamsburg (VA). The Griffon gives a good buzz from the front seat on this drop.

I haven't been to an amusement park in years. I've been to the local ones: Disneyland, Knott's Berry Farm and Magic Mountain. Also been to Sea World in San Diego. I've also been to some of the defunct ones, like Marineland and Busch Gardens (LA).

We used to go to Disneyland frequently when it wasn't so expensive. For some years, locals could get in for $20. They were also good to local marching bands. A few times a year we could go down, perform for an hour or two, then they'd let us in for free for the rest of the day.

Though I haven't been to Disneyland in about 20 years, I might grab my sister and the kids to go down there. I think it's a lot different from the last time I was there.

I grew up 1.5 hours from Cedar Point - we used to go at least twice a summer. Roller coaster capital of the world. It's been a few years since I've been there (The Raptor was new the last time I visited), but the kind of cool thing is that the coasters that we waited in line for an hour for you can pretty much just get on any time you want, rarely more than a few minute wait. Any serious coaster enthusiast has to make a pilgrimage to Cedar Point.

Of course, now that I'm over 50, and have upper back/neck/shoulder problems, some of those coasters can hand quite a bit of punishment. I'd love to try out some of the newer ones, just not sure how I'd feel the next day. I've gotten bruises on my spine from the Mean Streak at Cedar Point - long, rough ride, but a fantastic old-school wooden coaster. We have Darien Lake near us now, and although they've finally gotten some respectable coasters, there is still no place like CP.

Man, I really wish I could live close to Cedar Point. That has been one of my dream parks to visit. Maverick looks amazing!

Yeah, watch out for Mean Streak, very vicious ride! It reminds me of the terrors of Ghost Rider at Knott's...

Griffon and Raging Bull are both excellent rides by B&M. I really hope Magic Mountain gets a B&M dive machine (Griffon).

I've been to a ton.

Disneyland -- CA

Disneyworld -- multiple times- can't even begin to count; quite absurd really

Disneland Paris -- Space Mountain is badass- I still have and wear the shirt I got back in '98- it has a rather vintage look to it now.

Cedar Point-- good coasters/ ridiculous lines

Six Flags-- over GA, Great Adventure, one in Ohio I believe but I'm not seeing it on the website, I know it was connected to a sea-worldy type park.

Busch Gardens-- Williamsburg

Knotts Berry Farm

Sea World- San Diego

Universal Studios- CA; amazingly I haven't been to the Orlando one with all the times Ive been to Disneyworld

Kings Island-- Prolly my first park ever.  I still remember my foam lizard on a stick from there. Also, Son of Beast is really something special.

Carowinds -- if this counts

Hard Rock Park-- epic disaster/worst park in history.  I can't believe Zeppelin let them use their name for the coaster.  At least they played classic rock the whole time.  Also, the Knights in White Satin ride was sort of cool but not family friendly, it was like "hey kids, wanna go on an acid trip?"

Freedom music park- Ok, so I lied a bit, this park, the successor to the Hard Rock Park, was/is by far way worse.

Honestly, it feels like I've been to more than what's on the list but probably because I've been to all of these parks, except the CA ones, multiple times.  Still, I can probably make an even bigger list of parks I want to visit but haven't yet.

Has anyone been to the Harry Potter park in Orlando yet?

Canada's Wonderland outside of Toronto was fun times, but I quickly lost interest.

I always wanted to go back and snag a giant foam hat.

For those of you who listed the parks you've been to, do you have a favorite one?

How about any favorite rides and or rollercoasters? Space Mountain at DL is actually one of my Top 5 steel.

Tusenfryd - Vinterbro, Norway.

Liseberg, Gothenburg, Sweden

Holiday World in Santa Claus, IN.

Three world-class wood coasters, free Pepsi and sunscreen (from different spouts), and deep-fried Oreos.

You were thinking Six Flags: Worlds of Adventure - the merger of an existing park and a Sea World....  Cedar Point's parent company, Cedar Fair, currently owns it  and it's a waterpark now. They also own King's Island and Carowinds (and the other former Paramount parks).  Hard Rock/Freedom Music Park is now dead.  Knights of White Satin was said to be the best dark ride made to date.  Sorry I missed it....  As for the Harry Potter park, it's actually a section of Universal's Islands of Adventure park, and jam-packed to the gills.

I've been to all the amusement parks in the UK, Six Flags in Georgia, Bush Gardens in Tampa and all the parks in Orlando. When I was young Mission in American Adventure was a favorite along with the Pepsi Max in Blackpool during the opening week. Since then all the rides kind of merge together, I like unique ones like Sheikra and The Mummy.

Yes I went once on the opening week and it was packed, qued for about an hour just to get a Butterbeer which it turns out is cream soda and caramel, pretty nice if you have a sweet tooth. Went again a couple months later and got to go on the main attraction which is one of those virtual moving screens... it was good but not as good as the Simpsons ride.

Was Alton Towers pretty good? That seems like a solid UK park.
