Sia's album Colour the Small One would be a good place to start.

I don't know if it's thick or silky. But the most heart-crushing, breathtaking, wonderful vocal I can think of is Carla Bozulich doing the song "Times Square".

IMO "Silky, Rich, Sensuous, Heart Crushing, Thick, Breathtaking, Wonderful" sets the bar way too high - how many female vocalists seriously have a voice that could be described by all of those adjectives? None of those adjectives really indicates a particular genre either - jazz, blues, soul, or pop? Or even something else entirely like trip-hop or classical opera? Every female vocalist sounds different too, with a unique vocal quality.

That said, here are some that come to mind given the adjectives (multiple genres):
- Alison Krauss (who I wouldn't normally put here but her album Forget About It showcases her talents well)
- Alison Sudol (aka A Fine Frenzy)
- Amanda McBroom
- Elizabeth Fraser (of Cocteau Twins, also Massive Attack)
- Emiliana Torrini
- Erin Boheme
- Eva Cassidy
- Jane Monheit
- Jewel (tends to be very CD- or song-specific though, "Spirit" probably being her most consistent album)
- Madeleine Peyroux
- Kelly Sweet
- Renee Fleming
- Rickie Lee Jones
- Sarah Brightman
- Sarah McLachlan
- Shelby Lynne

Tori Amos?

She's very restrained in her vocals alot of the time, but when she lets go, the hairs will stand up on the back of your neck!

Also, the singer from The Gossip. Holy cow!

Looking for something that makes me fall in love.

Mentioning ones that I didn't see above.

Adding:

Stevie Nicks of Fleetwood Mac.

Lisa Kelly of the Celtic Women.

Celine Dion, of course.

Gloria Estefan,

Christina Aguilera.

and Pink......if you like your love with attitude.
