suggest amps under $250 for 701/702?

like the title suggests - i am planning to get an akg 702. right now i have LD mk3 but from reading seeing that it would not be the best amp for the 702s. i'm going to be keeping the mk3 to pair with my 580s but still would need another amp for the 702s.

i'd like to keep costs as low as possible but am willing to spend up to max of $250 atm. on an amp for the 702s. suggestions would be much appreciated thanks!

Going to throw in the obligatory vote for the Canamp at this point (before anyone else does).  I hope you have a DAC already!

a dynalo/gilmore lite, if you're lucky you might be able to find a M^3 for <$250.

I have been using Head direct EF-1 with Mullard and Tungsol Grey plate(Even better Bass but a wee bit rounded bass but better treble than mullard).Look for them in Sale forums. It's very good match for AKG 701/702 around your budget.

I'm sure that they're are more than a few nice amps near that price, I'm getting great results driving my 701's and my son's 702's with the Little Dot MK III which cost $244 with shipping. The LD MK III makes my AKG's sound fuller than the solid state amps I've tried.....soundstage/space is larger with more/fuller bottom end and incredible midrange.

Good luck.

The KICAS Caliente is a very smooth amp, and gives a lot of weight to the AKG sound. It makes for a relaxing sound in which everything sounds natural and clear, for me.
