Amp to drive my Hifiman HE-5's - Page 2

So I finally hooked up the HE5s to the speaker terminals of my Ming Da integrated (13W, EL84). Compared to my LD MK IV SE (which was no slouch) they sound like new phones. Much more open, detailed. Volume pot only @ 9-10 o'clock.

(This is using the stock cable & tubes). I'll upgrade the cable & roll some tubes in future, but happy for now.

If you have HE5s I can highly recommend trying out this route.

I know Fang was recommending 2 watts at 32 ohms for the HE-5, and I suspect the EF5 is close to that amount (even with 38 ohm HE-5 LE).  It's very musical, with just a little less detail and soundstage size than my maxed Woo WA6 which doesn't have as much power.  It drives the LCD-2 easily, and can almost drive the prototype HE-6 to acceptably loud levels.  It's just a little less powerful than my SAC KH1000 amp that was made for the K1000 headphones, so there is very little it can't drive.

As always thanks for your comments and they are appreciated. I am going to give the PS Audio one shot and if that doesnt please me will try the hybrid although

my Decware has the power and leaves me not wanting for more but I do like to have one SS amp for classical symphony music and more so for the D7000 which my CSP-2 does not like.
