I was listening to Map of the Problematique the other day, and I was like "Wow Muse is awesome". Then I thought What's their best album? Such a difficult question as I love all their albums. So I ask this question to to all my fellow head-fier Muse fanatics (ok not fanatic but...). After making a selection please explain your reason for picking that album in the comment section. Keep in mind, this is a thread to discuss what we love about this band, not to criticize it. So if you're not a fan or have some complaint about them or a particular album PLEASE DON'T TELL US we don't care. Violators will be shunned (jerk). I listed the common albums, but if your fav isn't on here please tell us about it below. Rock on.

I voted for Black Holes and Revelations. It was my first Muse album, and I think it's a nice compromise of Absolution's hard edge and The Resistance's mellow, melodic feel. Although I love how cool the Absolution album is, I personally feel BH&R is deeper and has more emotion to it. My fav track currently is Starlight (the piano hooked me), although it used to be Map of the Problematique.

I pretty much agree. So far BH&R is the epitome of MUSE. Too bad it sounded so atrocious. I don't mean to be yet another, "sounds bad" guy. But that album was so layered, it was a darn shame they smashed it.

The first two were good, yet I didn't think their songwriting was quite up to par s the third. Too many of the songs blended into one another.  I enjoyed The Resistance. Yet, find if more vapid each additional time I listen to it.

Thank you for your thoughts.

I would say none....whatever they're playing at the concert is the best at that point in time :) They sure know how to do concerts.

They are known for extraordinary concerts... I'd like to attend one sometime in the future. Have you been to many Nebby?

Only two, but damn they were good.

Hard to say. I chose OoS though, for my namesake. They're all good still.

Thank you for your vote and opinion. I have yet to listen to Oos all the way through, I didn't even know about it till recently. I must give it a thorough listen.

Is there any reason why you left out Showbiz?

I agree that they're awesome live which is why I voted other. The HAARP DVD with 5.1 DTS is pretty amazing.

Thank you for your time. No reason, I just listed the albums commonly known. The ones found in most stores.

the first two songs in "black holes.." ar e magnificent, but i didn't like the rest of the album.   I love "origin of symmetry" more.  these are the only two albums i have of theirs.

Do you find the extremely high pitch "squeal" in the first song bothersome? Just wondering if any one else noticed this...

So far, no votes for The Resistance. That's too bad, it really is a lovely album... I love the orchestra in it.

Their newer stuff sounds like little kid Marxist propaganda to me, made to make you feel connected to an over dramatic and overplayed defiance to society and modern government. I know most won't agree with me on this, but I just had to throw that out there. Well layered with catchy tunes that keep your mind and ears at the edge of their seat, though. Good musical talent.

I enjoyed Butterflies and Hurricanes quite a bit. Sing For Absolution isn't bad, although the acoustic version is sort of a letdown, imo. Starlight is very catchy. I'm with the OP on that. Best track on BH&R if you ask me. I voted for Absolution, although I haven't heard their earlier stuff which my brother semi-recently began to explore and recommended. Then again, he listens to Nickelback... Idk if I can trust him! :p
