Wax removing ear drops

I'm not sure if its all the years of clubbing and always standing with my left ear to the speaker but whenever I listen to audio through phones it seems skewed towards the right ear - almost like the right ear picks up transients better.

Anyway I was considering buying some wax removing ear drops to try that - incase there is build up of wax. Have you guys had any success with them before?

You shouldn't clean your ears too often as it's not good for you. But if you do want to, you can use a water and isopropyl alcohol (rubbing alcohol) mix. Which you probably already have around the house. It works great.

But maybe what your describing isn't an issue with ear wax...

Yeah I dunno if it's a physical thing or a psychological thing in the way I process sound - my right eye Is much more dominant than my left making me think that I focus on sounds from the right more.

I'm interested in trying one of these clear your ears out treatments to eliminate the psychological explanation.

what you describe is hearing loss in the left ear from exposure to loud noises not earwax buildup

I use ear drops to clean my ears from time to time, and it works great for me.

No offense to puddles, but be careful with which chemicals you introduce to your ears.

The solvent you buy at the pharmacy is very gentle on the ears and can safely be used every now and then.

Don't worry, I have a masters degree in chemistry and am not in the habit of putting solvents into my ear without getting some proper advice first ;-)

There's a new ad in the uk for ear drops which made me initially think of trying something like them.

I"ve used drops a couple of times with some success. This is painfully obvious, but it's best to just go to a specialist and have your ears cleaned. The suction tools they use, are like heaven. Then once  a month, I add a drop of olive oil in my ear, as they recommended, and my once formidable wax problem has ceased *knock on wood.*

Audiology has to be a growth industry, especially with all the headphones now; betcha kids are going deaf all over the place. At my gym for example, I'm amazed how loud some younger folk blast their iBuds.

just go to your local family doctor and have them look in your ears to see if there is a build up, then they could flush it with water if they see anything. might want to visit a ENT to have a hearing test afterwards. i would not recomend you play with any drops or cue tips cause the only thing you are going to do is push the built up wax further in, and yes there can be that much junk built up in your canal. isopropyl alcohol (rubbing alcohol) drops are a good way to dry out any water after you shower or swim but thats only if you suffer from swimmers ear and has really nothing to do with wax, i use cuetips after a shower cause i get bad swimmers ear..like so bad if i dont use cue tips after ever shower i will get a ear ache soon after. sounds like something is built up in your left ear canal, or you're going deaf in the left ear..but i doubt that..human ears can take a beating and still listen well.

anyway just go to your family doctor, its a 5min visit at most.

how long has the right ear been dominiant? if its reccent just hold your noose and pop your ears..just an idea

I remember once when I was a kid, my doctor told me I had a lot of wax buildup and flushed my ear with water.  I was absolutely amazed at how much wax ended up coming out of my ear.  It was pretty disgusting, but I was a kid so I thought it was the coolest thing ever.

Ever look at the ingredients in most of those wax removal solutions?  Ocean water.  Go hit the beach.

BTW, whats the olive oil for?  Do ears dry out?

years back i had mine done also, like years and years ago..

anyway the doctor looked in my ears and asked how was my hearing, then he is sticking this blue rubber dropper filled with water in them. afterwards he showed me what was stuck in one of my ears..i remember it looked like black lint, or toe jam...eewww lol

Debrox was a fantastic solution for me. Painless, efficient, and exceedingly effective. You'd be surprised at how clogged your ears can get, even with routine cleaning.

Beauty-Ear%20Cleaner

and if you've got the cash, there are "places" that will arrange for a hot chick to clean your ears for you.

This is a common misconception: "The fluid is clear so there's just water"

The solution I use contains 85% glycerol, 10% sodium carbonate and the rest is water.
