But I learned a few tricks that made it incredibly easy.

First thing, before any boss battles, I wait around the area where you can summon other players. I usually summon 2 other players and let them do all the figthing for me.

Second thing, if I die in the game, before the game saves, I quit the game really fast as my player is dying, then when I restart the game. It saved the game a few moments before I died.

Thirdly, when a phantom invades my game, they are usually too powerful and when I am about to die, I disconnect my PS3 from the internet and the other guy who is the phantom freezes and loses connection to my PS3 to kill me. Then I just reconnect my DSL and go along on my marry way.

There is no way I would have played this game without cheating. I feel the same principals apply to life as well.

Ha, I agree. I do the same thing with resetting the game right after I've died (especially after the Flamelurker boss). I used to have problems with black phantoms invading, but if you do things right you can usually kill them. And it actually became quite fun when the invaded. You go hide somewhere, put on the graverobber's ring (I think that's the one), and then stab them in the back when they run past you.

Besides sharing the frustration of Demon Souls and Ninja Gaiden I'll throw two I haven't seen mentioned (and being in a pretty crappy mood I want to talk bad about them):

-Gears of War: Alright, after the wow factor of the graphics passed, I noticed the crappiness of the gameplay, I found the controls, aiming and movement of the character hugely frustrating, and to top it all the idiotic berserker which if it touched you immediately killed you... which would not be bad if you had a little more speed and agility than an obese snail, I REALLY got frustrated at that...

- Killzone 2: Ok again, awesome graphics... that wow effect passes and... who was the person responsible of accepting the uber crappy controls of this thing??? Made Gears seem as good as call of duty 4 in comparison, the best recipe of how to ruin a game

Honorable mention: God of War (anyone of the series): the unskippable cutscenes and sometimes crappy camera with the not so easy higher difficulties can really get annoying. Not enough to be near to ruin the games like in the previous cases, but annoying, difficult an frustrating sometimes nonetheless.

I'm in a particularly bad mood so I might be exaggerating a little, but I truly felt frustrated with those games.

Zelda II: The Adventure of Link was the most soul-crushing, needlessly difficult game I've enjoyed sucking at (and ultimately beating).  To this day, I'm still not sure how I finally defeated Dark Link on the Collector's Edition version of the game.

It's also one of the games I fondly remember playing or watching someone else play as a kid.  Even though I was just a child, I knew what was up with the townswomen who invited Link into their homes for "refreshment."
