Sennheiser HD-598s are the most comfortable headphones I've had the opportunity to use. I recommend these wholeheartedly for any first-time hi-fi buyer because of their excellent soundstage and...

I just received my SigPros (bought from a fellow head-fi'er), and now have several hours with them. They are great headphones. Agree with most of what everyone's saying about them. These...

Beats out the Bose Triport, the HD 202 and HD 435s, the AT M35 and AT M50. Just try it and see. Extremely comfortable (I wear mine while commuting and studying, for about 5+ hours a day). Bought...

Ive heard bits and pices...its very sparse.
Im a little dissapointed being that his 3rd is probably one of my all time favorite pieces of music.
It's a bunch of twaddle. It impresses the inexperienced listener who will ooh and aah about how profound and deep it is. Of course, there were many composers doing the same thing, better, in the 1950's. Part's music is better than it used to be when he was a serialist, and some of his choral writing is very moving and profound. The 4th symphony isn't. Save your money and get the Marcel Tyberg 2nd symphony.

I haven't heard the fourth symphony, but I recently caught up with last year's collection of pieces In Principio and thought that it was somewhat better than other Part works of late. I'm afraid that while some of his works are gorgeous, he has fallen into the minimalist trap of producing too much without sufficient distinctions in approach between the works. Nevertheless, there are works by him that I would count as long-term favourites, so I daresay that I will pick this up as well in due course.

Im sorry to hear that as well, was really looking forward to it.
Being that I am such a fan of his 3rd, can you recommend some other material?
I really enjoy the slower, darker, more emotive works that occassionally have slight changes in tempo.
I dont know what it is about his 3rd, but to me it is incredibly powerful and moving.
I will look into Tyberg.

I will watch reaction to Arvo Part's Symphony No. 4 with interest, but at present I'm not a big Part fan.

Which specific pieces by Part would you recommend? So far I haven't been able to find a single one that impressed me. I guess I'll look into Tyberg as well.

I've always loved "Alina" and "Te Deum." His Third is excellent, too.

I'll second 'Alina'
Some of his choral works are, as mentioned, pretty good, like 'Kanon Pokajanen' and 'Lamentate'
