[Review] Sunrise AS-Miss, AS-Feeling, AS-Charm

I've just posted my full review of the AS series at TouchMyApps

The clincher: Feeling and Charm are A+++ earphones in terms of sound and accessories. They could do with better construction (especially maybe in driver fitting), but they rock. Thick, warm, pretty neutral, and blessedly fun to listen to. The AS-Miss, is excellent for the price, but it is quite a step down in usability and build quality while also sporting a bit more 'echo' in its bass.

Sunrise, you've done an awesome job. I have used earbuds on and off for years, but these are among the best. The AS-Charm is 100% recommended for serious listeners and its 150Ω means NO hiss from almost any source, easy to drive, full-resolution sound in all frequencies, and pure bliss overall. Feeling follows closely.

Prices:

25$ AS-Miss

40$ AS-Feeling

80$ AS-Charm

Yes, I would imagine at headfi that earbuds get less attention, but to be honest, the AS-earbuds are the only real high-end competitor to the Yuin and they do an excellent job. I'll finish my review of the Xscape unit (IEM) which is also excellent, but to be honest, the earbuds are more special of products and I am very very happy with them.

Thank you for great reviews!

Huh, earbuds.

You like the earbuds better than the Xscape?!  Thats bad news as mine is enroute.

No, the Xscape is amazing we are talking about earbuds here with the AS-series. If you are in the market for inner earphones, obviously earbuds are different. however, the AS-series, especially the 150Ω AS-charm is a very unique and easy to drive product. I think more manufacturers should attempt to make earphones in its resistance category.

The Xscape, as nice as it is, is just another inner earphone. It is good, yes, but it is another in a long line of competitors. For its price, it rocks, for sure. But the AS-Charm and AS-Feeling, and even the cheap AS-Miss are unique and hard hitting weapons in a very shallow audiophile market ruled by two names: Sennheiser and Yuin.

I've not been able to put them side by side, so I cannot comment. The only thing I don't like about the Charm is its plastic grill. That fixed and it would be pretty perfect. Of course, sound 'quality' has different meanings to different people, but the warm, relatively powerful sound coming from the Charm is equally graceful and fun. A more open grill would relieve a bit of stress in the mid bass and put this earphone on track to being the BEST earphone I've heard.

can it play a 20-30hz tone?

It can, yes, though there is a small dip at that frequency (as with most earphones)

Haha, I won't really be able to do that. The MX980 is very hard to find to demo and I got lucky on one occassion. I won't be buying it.

Yea I actually like the earbuds than Xcape. Probably that's because I own the RE0s and they sound like a warm version of it while the Charm offers something that is more different. However, these require some serious power. I actually turn up my cowon d2 to almost 80% to hear it. This is how much power it needs. :) But existing amp users should get it! the soundquality is comparable to the HR1 and PK1 but at a much cheaper price :).

You guys can get it on ebay. Just google Sunrise As-charm and Sunrise Sw-xcape. Both are at USD80 with free shipping! :)

You must be listening at ear bleeding levels as I get more than enough volume even in traffic from an iPod shuffle 1G.

Price/performance is very good with all of these earphones. I would caution you with your volume, though, as you must really be pushing above 90dB.
