MGMT's Congratulations

While I find this album to be a great departure from their previous more pop oriented album, I keep having a problem with the way it sounds when I listen to it with headphones on.  When listening to it on my stereo, I find none of the problems that I do compared to listening to it on cans.  With both Grado SR-80s, and Senn HD650's, i find the sound to be unbearably muddy.  While i think a couple of the songs are well mixed, it appears they overdid it when striving for that 60's sound by adding way too much reverb, and the bass drum just seems to overpower most passages.  I think the music on this album, for the most part is good, I can't get over the just clash of sounds I hear when listening to it with cans.  Anyone else have this experience?

I agree with you on this.  Not a great headphone record except the song "congratulations" amazing on the HD580s . oh well....its still pretty damn awesome.
