iTunes 10 - a change in sound?

post #1 of 31

I've just updated iTunes to 10 and running on MacBook Pro (OSX 10.6.4) and HDP connected by optical cable it seems to sound different and the difference is pretty significant. To my ears, the sound is more dynamic and more smooth. Is it just me (hopefully?) or someone else also experienced it?

@Edit

Probably it's just me. Seems it's too late for an objective listening. :)

Did you use an EQ before? If not check to make sure the EQ is off on iTunes 10. Other than that I have no ideas.

Checking EQ was the first thing I did. It was turned off, the same way as before.

Maybe the Mac people borrowed a bit from the Amarra / PureMusic people to enhance iTunes.  As it was many people reported only a slight difference between iTunes and the other programs.  When a difference was reported it was usually in favor of the areas you observed as improved.

Enjoy it...

Is there any chance at all that your Audio Midi Setup settings changed? Or your iTunes volume setting in the program itself changed?

Nop, everything was as it used to be. Unfortunately, can't compare it right now.

I do not hear a difference now that I am using iTunes 10.

Could guess so. As I said, it probably was my fatigue only.

Hmmm .... I just upgraded to iTunes 10 and immediately thought it sounded different. Checked EQ - was same as before. I think it is LOUDER than before. Of course. this could all be just in my imagination ...
