RE0 RE-ZERO or DBA-02 ??

Hey,

 

As you can see,its my first entry here so hi all !

 

I read and searced a lot but couldnt find any answer for my dilemma.I stuck between NuForce NE8 and Ety er6i. Both are about same price to me and I could get Fiio E5 too. Im listening much more metal(old school thrash,death metal) and sometimes classical and progressive (porcupine tree,some dream theater etc.)

 

I love to hear details and soundstage should be good (great also acceptable) I also play drums (still taking class,drum noob too) so I wanna hear drums of what Im listening too.

 

So,which one can you recommend ? NE8 ER6i RE0 ? (w/ or w/o E5)

 

I have Sansa clip+

I've never listened to the RE0 or NE8 but I can vouch for the ER 6i's feeling kinda flimsy and cheap. I don't recall being very satisfied with the soundstage, but to my ears the detail of every instrument was good. Hope I helped a bit.

Thank you. Question is,can feeling flimsy and cheap by your terms be overcome with E5?

For listening to metal I wouldn't recommend the er6i, with or without the e5. Also I wouldn't bother with an amp at all, sansa clip sounds good with most earphones i've tried it with. Re0 would be a better bet I think but still not really what would come to mind. Neither of them are bassy at all. I haven't heard the ne-8

I recommend to save on E5, it is just a waist of money and it may spoil the sound of the Clip with IEMs. I never heard NE8. With regards to RE0 or ER-6i: get RE-Zero. It plays better with Clip+ and suites your genres better.

+1. Forget the E5, get better earphones. The RE0/RE-ZERO suit your preferences better than both the Er6i and NE8. The NE8 is unpopular around here for a reason - it's a horrid earphone for the asking price. Rolled-off at the bottom, lacking in detail and sparkle, and just generally unexciting. It does a couple of things right but I had no problem giving it up for the Er6i, which in turn had to go when I bought the RE0.

Thanks for all answers,they all are appreciated.

 

I save my money instead of getting E5 than RE0 performs better than both NE-8 and ER6i. But what about RE-Zero? I meant RE0 or RE-Zero? What is the difference between them except $20 ?

ZERO is more sensitive than RE0, so you will turn up the volume a little less.

I changed the title as you can see because of the comments above. For $170 I can purchase DBA-02,what about them? Im a noob so please dont judge me as an audophile. This $70 difference makes sense to buy DBA-02 rather than RE-ZERO ?

The DBA-02 is the best of those three but also the most expensive and the hardest to get due to limited supply and a wait for their next shipment. RE0 and RE-Zero however come very close to the DBA-02 at much less cost. I use the RE-Zero and enjoy it very much. It's not the best but it's very good assuming you enjoy their kind of sound signature.

 

IMO just buy the RE0 or the RE-Zero depending on if you can handle an adapter or not as well as your preferences. They have a long wait for the DBA-02 and the Zero I found comes very close to the DBA-02 so I sold the DBA-02 and use the RE-Zero. For someone new you probably won't be able to tell the difference between the two easily. The RE0 and RE-Zero are the better value buy but the DBA-02 is the better earphone. Law of diminishing returns come into play here.

I wouldn't be surprised if a few sets of DBA-02 show up in the FS forum soon. (But not mine - backup pair on its way to me from Bugden.) I suspect that some of those who just received theirs will decide that the sound sig of the DBA doesn't suit them.

 

Can't give a recommendation among your three options, but I think rawster has provided you with excellent advice.
