c'mon guys, need moar money to fix the stax amp lol. The soldering iron and the consumables were a whole $80 already.

Have you tried swapping the op-amp chip in the Aune's DAC section with a different one? Maybe that's all it will take to fix it. But yeah, I do agree that the Aune works great as a standalone amp.

Thanks. Yes, I have - with stock ones, dual Opa627 on adapters and the LMA47.... Unfortunately, to no avail. 

 

Maybe I should measure the resistors for the laughs lol.

With non-stock opamps it sounds really good and can drive really low sensitivity/power hungry picky cans incl AKG K340 ESD =)

The combo with musiland is seriosly a great starting kit of dac + hp amp for people who want to start with dynamic headphones.
