Idle speculation: Denon to compete with HD800 and T1 someday?

I wonder if Denon will ever make a 'really high-end' headphone to compete with Sennheiser and Beyer in +$1000 market?

Maybe if they refresh their line, which is something I've heard rumors of.

Hopefully they launch one!

Where did you hear rumors about that?

Aren't all the higher end Denon cans based on Fostex designs? They look extremely similar to the headphones on Foster japan....

( Maybe if they went for the RP driver instead of the usual dynamic drivers..... but I suppose that's not going to happen....)

The D7000 is 1500$ over here so they are already competing ;)

Denon would need to drastically change their house sound to a more balanced one before I'd buy one.

D7000 is about 742 euro (or US$956) in UK. But only around US$600 - 650 in the US (street price).

Here, actually.

I think this headset from Foster is vaguely similar to the Denons. Maybe they have something new coming up?

I'd venture that Denon already considers the D7000 to be competing.  The price is irrelevant to actual quality in the audio industry, except for the perceived allure that exhorbitant pricing brings.

If only that was true.... would have saved me some $.

They will make a +$1000 headphone but it will have too much bass.

People will buy it anyway, same way that they buy hot fudge sundaes when they should be eating cucumbers.
