I got my Pro Golds today! Problem solved, I'm keeping 'em!

Original title: *I got my Pro Golds today! I will be sending them back tomorrow. Any advice?*

Sigh. I really don't know what to do at this point. My ears hate IEMs.

I simply cannot get a good fit with these. It came with 17, yes, seventeen different tips, and none of them go in good enough. Honestly, I spent at least half and hour trying all of them. Twisting, shoving, upside down, sideways, nothing would work, not even with the foam ones. Once in a great while, I would get a good seal, so I turned on the music. Quite frankly, I really don't know what to say now. While the SQ is good, it's not mind boggling good. I'm perfectly content with my Philips 9850, that get a fantastic seal EVERY time.

I think the fit has to do with the wide nozzle. Philips has a very skinny one.

So I'm kind of clueless. I really haven't been advancing in SQ with my headphones lately. Although the Pro Golds should be much *better* than my other ones, my ear just doesn't say it's true. I may stop "upgrading" up the SQ tree, and just use what works. Nothing like crappy earbuds or anything, but something semi decent like the 9850 I currently own.

If I were to ever upgrade to a new IEM ever again, I would have to get a thin nozzle one. Maybe like the Klipsch S4? Then again, I could just stick with full sized...

EDIT: After reading all of everyone's helpful posts, I have indeed figured something out. I finally did read the instructions, as one of you suggested, and found out how to properly insert them. I swear my ear canal is extra recessed, which makes it uber-hard to get a good fit. Well, the instructions said to "pull your ear back" and insert. I was pulling them up. After I tried this, they magically fit inside my ear! It was amazing! I am now using the standard "Gel Supertips" that came installed when I got the headphone. They fit wonderfully, but I still may experiment. And I updated the tip amount. There is actually 17 tips instead of 16. That is really amazing!

Besides, I absolutely COULD NOT send back such a classy headphone. These things are unbelievable! The packaging, accessories, tips, and overall quality is really quite phenomenal. On top of that, they have a lifetime warranty! With something this good, you almost want to keep them even though they didn't fit (back when I was doing it wrong). The quality is just top notch, and the accessory amount is really, really generous. I am VERY glad the final flaw has been fixed... they now fit, and fit very well.

You might give comply T400 tips a try. They are the only tips that work for me with the Golds. Worth it tho-I really enjoy the sound of these earphones.

You'll never get a good fit trying to shove them into your ears.

Read the manual that comes with the earphones. Pay attention. Follow the instructions. There's a Youtube video starring our own Kwkarth on how to do if you can't figure it out.

Foam tips, all day every day.  I don't mess with anything else if I don't have to.  I use Shure Olive on all the smal nozzle BA earphones and Comply T-500 tips on all the large nozzle ones.  I have a couple biflanges that I use that fit ok.  That's it.

The thing is, they actually came with a set of foam tips. I have a pair of comply that came with my 9850 and these are about the same.

I still can't get a good fit with foam. Foam ear tips are about the most frustrating thing on this planet for me. They don't do anything better than a good seal with silicone.

Once again, it may be just because of the nozzle size. It just seems like a really bad shape to fit in your ears. You almost need it *angled* as human's ear canals are angled. The 9850's skinny nozzle is angled, and it really goes in there well... with much ease.

And actually, I don't *just* shove them in. I've tried absolutely everything I could think of *including* shoving them in. Nothing would work. I'm not the kind of person that takes 10 minutes trying to get a good fit every time I listen to music.

They sound good, but not that good. It honestly seems like headphones don't get any better than a certain point. I'm losing all hope with SQ improvement...

I empathsize with your situation Katun. When I first received my coppers, I went through quite a bit of frustration for a little while myself. After about a week or so of trial and error, I finally settled on the large foamies. Even now they can be a pain when I move around a lot as I sometimes get the urge to "reset" them for a better seal. Good luck!

Have you burned them in yet? My Coppers improved loads with burn-in.

Thanks for all the replies everyone. I've *updated my original post* if you would like to take a quick read.

I have not burned them in yet, but will start the process tonight. I'm actually quite excited to see how they will improve. Hopes high!

So glad my problem has been solved! I really didn't want to give these babies back. They are just too nice.

I wonder if the turbine pros can achieve warp 6?

I'm glad you fixed your issue and they are pretty tip sensitive. To this day the Golds easily have the worst first impression I've ever had.

Same here, which really scared me. I didn't want to have a bad impression, but nothing would fit. Thank goodness I can achieve a good fit now!

I'm actually using a medium sized "white foam supertip" now. Fits even better than the medium gel supertip.

It wasn't fit but sound :) The gel tips also are the tips I hate the most as well.
