Well I started out with 5.5g ipod that had a bad hard drive so I decided this would be a good opportunity to try the diy imod and get a new 240gb hard drive. Well I went all the way and not only bypassed the internal circuitry, but I also removed caps, and inductors themselves. I read that this furthers improves the sound because even though the caps were bypass, they were still in the signal path. As far as sound goes, I'm very pleased with the results, but unfortunately the complete bypass did away with the headphone out and hold switch. I could care less about the headphone out, but I need the hold switch to switch back and forth between the rockbox and stock firmware. So I think I might find a damaged ipod and do the mod over again without removing the components. So the buy would be getting a diy ipod with no hard drive. I used The buyer would also need to source a lod cable. I would still need mine. In the mod itself, I used 30awg solid core silver with teflon from home grown audio. I don't know what this might be worth, so this is an interest check for right now. I'm open to fair offers.
