SOLD : ALO K701 Pricedrop *$325*

Edi: 9/12/10 - Can't do it, there is something very special in the midrange, I'm thinking I will sell the MS-Pro and maybe even my X-can v8 to fund for a Audeze LCD-2

Edit: 10/27/10 - Sold my X-can v8, in a selling mood. Back on sale.

These have been my go to cans for two years now, hate to let them go but have a Ulti modded pair of MS-Pro's as well and the two sound too much alike. However the upside of the MS-Pro is that it can be reverted to stock for a more forward sound, so I'm thinking I will keep them and sell/trade the K701. I don't know how stock k701's sound, but these have always been smooth, never sibilant, highly detailed. A very grand soundstage with vertical soundstage not matched by any other can I've heard, nice airy low end that goes very deep (though indeed lacks the quantity that some desire). It was recabled with 22awg Jenna wire by ALO, the copper wires have matured, developed a green color. They really shine with female vocals, classical, acoustic, and ambient music.

For trades I will consider: Audio Technica ATH-D2000, Sennheiser HD-650 w/upgraded cable. Would sell for no less than $350.

Search here, there have been some who don't care much for the k701 but their impressions become very positive when heard with the ALO recable. Also forget the Q701 with the toy-like neon green cable, get this pair which has a cable that is turning green due to the copper maturing

feel free to offer trades, something might catch my eye. might consider other Audio Technica cans, Ultrasone Pro 900's, maybe a dac that is better than mine (currently using a modified Lite DAC-AM)

Give these a shot before you dismiss the k701.
