Beta22 or Bjiou?

Which one to build?  I'm looking to power DT770 Pro 80 ohm right now, but want to step up to HD650 or similar in the not so distant future....so the question is - which one to build?  I'm 99% sure I can build it, tweaking is another story .  I was thinking about one of the GlassJar audio kits....however I'm open to suggestions.

Thanks

Beta22, without a doubt.

If both are stock, then beta 22. But the bijou can be as good as you want it to be. There are infinite possibilities as far as upgrades. A stock bijou is much cheaper to build than a stock beta 22. But if you invest the same amount in upgrades for the bijou as it would cost to build a stock beta 22, IMO the bijou would be much better. It also depends on whether or not you prefer tubes.

I also think the Beta22 is a better choice. However, if you really want tubes, the Bijou is far from a bad choice.

If you can swing a Beta, then by all means make a Beta. Then do a Bijou for the lulz.

Entirely depends on your preference for tube or SS, but there are no wrong answers with this choice.

+1 vote for Beta22

I’ve never heard a Bjiou as yet, have you considered the EHHA?

Between my balanced EHHA and balanced Beta22, the EHHA is better with HD800’s, it may be personal preference or simply system synergy.

If your looking at the HD650’s the Beta22 really opens them up nicely, and may be the better choice.

With my favourite can the HD800’s, it’s definitely the EHHA.

It really comes down to whether you prefer tubes or ss. You would be happy with either.

Well, it seems that the beta is the way to go, but the kits are out of stock at glass jar audio. The bijou is in though. So...anyone know of anywhere else that sells a bet22 kit?

Just get the parts yourself, everything is readily available from Mouser/AMB

I'm a little curious how you picked the B22 and the Bijou as the two to choose between ?

Both fine designs, there is a pretty big universe of projects between the two philosophies.

If it's just because you want a top end amp and want it available as a complete kit, don't

let the sourcing of parts keep you from considering some other worthy designs. Sourcing parts

adds no more than 10% to the time invested in building a typical project, usually less. A small

disappointment in going the kit route is that it seldom keeps you from needing to make a Mouser

or Digikey order in the end anyway.

If the choice is between the B22 and the Bijou. I'm another vote for the B22.

When I looked at the two designs, I saw a lot of flexibility in each.  Both have great communities behind them for troubleshooting - and yeah, I wanted higher end than some of the prebuilt units.  I'm not afraid of mouser or digikey, but wanted to have something that was simple to get, as I dont have much time on my hands right now.  The build project would be several weeks of evenings to get right....I guess I'll just have to source the parts through mouser, add some time and patience to the picture, and go from there...

The glass jar kits appear to be in stock... maybe I'm missing something.
