Mini to RCA, 2 Candidates

Im trying to decide between the Bolder m-80
http://www.boldercables.com/Store.as...s=Audio+Cables
and a custom audioquest kingcobra
http://www.audioquest.com/

To view the King Cobra you need to go to interconnects tab. They have to make the King Cobra custom because they dont sell their higher quality cables in mini > RCA form. The King Cobra custom is about 110$, and judging from the site's information, looks like a beautifully constructed cable. The Bolder, on the other hand, is 112$ for the .25m and 125$ for the .5m. I know the length of the interconnect affects the sound quality, but will there be a noticeable difference between .25m and .5m?

Bolder has a great reputation and Im sure this cable would live up to that reputation, but the Audioquest looks equally as impressive.

I would love to hear any opinions (or additions if anything is comparable) and especially feedback from those owning either of the aforementioned cables.

For the exorbitant prices that they charge for these cables, I should hope that they are better...

I like the Pivot, but it's the only one I've tried out of the ones you have listed. Only problem with them is they are unshielded. Go to ebay. Zu Cable sells the Pivot for less there than they do on their website.

I must add, those King Cobra cables mentioned in your first post look really sharp.

I have a zu pivot too. The upshot of it being unshielded is that it's very flexible.

If you can - build your own. You can make a very high quality mini-RCA for $50.

I use a Monster one I picked up on special.... shielded and 3 meters long.... actually sounds quite good too, which plesantly surprised me about a monster product... picked it up for $50Aus... about $40 U.S...

Holy Crap this was one of my first posts, dont know how it got bumped.

In any case, I will fill you guys in...
I bought both the zu pivot and the bolder m-80s, and ended up keeping the bolders.

Both were excellent, but in the end the bolders offered a little more clarity in the high end that fit better in my semi portable rig (XP-7 and the shures). It came down to personal preference rather than one being outright better than the other.

Thx, Martin - you've made my day!!!

I wrote to the Kimberkable distributor in Germany (I currently am in Austria) & they had no clue when I hinted to a Kimber RCA<->3.5mm even though I directed them to Stereophile's review of the ipod where they mention using a Kimberkable RCA->mini on page three of the review!

I was loosing hope, thinking that maybe Kimber stopped producing such interconnects until I came across your post! Evidently, it has always been a third-party product, but this Russ Andrews group sounds like they know their s**t!

Thx again for the link

Would shielded cables be mandatory if your using a computer as a source to your headphone amp?

I've used the non-shielded Pivot with my computer without a problem.
