If you had to live with your choice forever, which one would you choose?

Tubes or solid state? If you had to go through the rest of your life with only one or the other, what kind of amplification would you choose for your headphones, and why?

 

For the sake of this imaginary exercise, let's say that if you choose tubes you get to have a set of your favorites, but only one set plus an identical backup set with a lifetime warranty. Same thing with op-amps, so we're being fair. I know I am having a hard time with this myself, as I really like both but can appreciate the differences.

 

Sorry no hybrids allowed, that's too easy

I'll choose tubes.  Here are some of my reasons, in no particular order:

 

1) I'm a sucker for aesthetics.  I love looking at glowing tubes.  It's the same for me staring into campfires.

2) I like the sound.  I like sweet mids and highs.  I love a good tube bloom.

3) I like the option to roll tubes to tweak the sound exactly to my liking.
 My favorite set of tubes masters my favorite genres perfectly.

4) I like being different than the lemmings who think Best Buy is where you go to buy stereo equipment.

5) I like being nostalgic and using older technology that performs beyond my expectations.

6) The sound.

7) The sound.

8) The sound.

Haha I like the glowing tubes bit the best. I like the nostalgia too but there are some sweet old SS amps and receivers from the '70s.

 

How do I turn this into a poll so people could vote on top?

Without a doubt, tubes. They are simply more fun to listen to and more fun to use and futz with.
