Hello
Got a special package in today! Here she is with the top off, Earth OPAmp freshly installed.
And here she is all setup
Okay, so wow. Kind of absurd the difference in sound when you have gotten used to listening to a X-fi as your source for about 3 years haha. The first song I was trying to listen too hard and had a momentary period of panic thinking it was not worth the money. I could not be more wrong, and every part of the music I am listening to has been improved. I have not had much experience with high quality components of my own (dad has a quality ht setup), so it is hard to put into words what I am hearing, but it just sounds right [and FUN] (had to throw that in!).
I have a set of BJC RCA interconnects coming in, along with 2 RCA right angle adapters (to help keep my monitors close to wall). I thought I would start with the BJC cable as my reference, then as I let my system burn in, I'd have a solid base for future experimentation with cables.
However, 2 concerns:
1) With no music playing, the speakers are not completely quiet. There is a little background noise, nothing too crazy but enough that makes me want to eliminate it.
2) With music playing, if I press the line out button in (to switch from speakers to headphones), I still hear at very verry low volume some music coming through speakers independent of the volume pot. Kind of weirding me out.
If it wasnt for that #2 I would think that maybe my power is just dirty in this room (all audio components plugged into a standard cheap power strip). #2 kind of scares me though and makes me wonder if it is something to do with the internals? My only other thought would be something with my rca cables going to the KRKs now because they are from radioshack.
No matter what I am going to wait until that BJC order comes in, any ideas though?
EDIT: With music playing through speakers, If i press in the "line in" button, I do not experience the same leak of sound as I do when I press in the "line out" during playback through speakers.
