Female 1/4" Headphone Jack - Need Help Identifying Left/Right Posts

Thread Starter

As the title states, I need help identifying which internal post is for the left channel and which is for the right channel. I'm making a headphone extension cable, the male plug is already attached, just have to add the female jack. It's a Radio Shack jack, it has two posts that are symetrically placed on the cylinder, not labled. One is brass colored (on the left?), and one is silver colored.

Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance!

Thank you,

GRod

Post Script: This was a Cardas upgrade cable for Sennheiser HD-600/HD-650 etc. headphones. I cut off the Connectors that actually plug into the headphones. Left about 7" of the wire. If anyone wants them to make your own upgrade cable for Sennhesiser headphones, just let me know and I'll be happy to mail them to you for free. First come - first served.

take note of which terminal on the male end connects to which wire.

plug the male end into the female end, probe from wire to the connector on the female end.
