I have 963sa right now, I want upgrade my source to buy myself a X'mas gift. Since I only use the player for my headphone system, therefore it does not need DVD function. Also, I guess a used unit will be better, b/c I know $800 only can buy some Brand New entry level player. However, the player MUST able to play SACD.

Right now, my eyes are on Marantz SA8400,

Which is new release 2 channels and SACD player, and the price is around $800, but it only have 110V model. (I have to buy a transformer for it, which cost another $100.)

What do you think? Should I save more money for a better SACD player?

If I had $800, I would strongly consider the SA8400 myself, because I dig the Marantz "house sound". I'm sure it will give you that in spades. BTW, it's not to hard on the eyes either.

I don't think you really have to spend that much for a decent transformer. The SA8400 specs say it draws 20 watts maximum. So a 100W or 200W transformer should be more than adequate, no?
