Yeah, the nano is awesome.

I always wanted an shuffle because my classic is too big and heavy. But now, the nano is really small, it has a clip, and it has more memory than the shuffle, so I AM GOING TO BUY IT!

I'm not. But I am not sure why people are so down on this new Nano design. It's a Shuffle with a long overdue screen and 8 times the memory. Not a bad idea.

I'm kind of torn between:

Keeping my iPod Touch 64gb and waiting for a 128GB (for who knows how many years...)

or

Selling it and:

1. Getting a new 8GB iPod Touch and a used 160GB

2. Getting a new 64GB iPod Touch

Right now, most of my music fits on the 64GB if I downconvert my lossless tracks to 320kbps. On the ipod itself, this doesn't make much difference (since it's not a terribly great source to begin with, especially unamped), but I've got an Onkyo ND-S1 at home, so I'd like everything available in lossless.

As for why I want a touch specifically: The computer nerd in me wants a killer web browser that I can take anywhere, and the doubling of the screen resolution will be a huge step in that direction.

Even more will fit at Lame V0 vbr~new for roughly the same SQ. 320 CBR uses constant sampling for simpler passges (including silence). It's a waste of space.

I think if I were a kid in high school i would be more interested in the games and video face time calling over wifi that the new touch has but now i would not know what to do with it. I had a touch 2g and never used the bells and whistles on it and thought the sound was mediocre. I have a cell phone that has all that stuff and i want something just dedicated towards high quality music. I am not saying the itouch is not really cool but i think if your interested in music there are better option still out there. So its a question of weather you want a great ui with bells and whistles or great music. Then again you can always hook a amp up to it.

people who say the nano can't be used with two hands obviously don't know what they're talking about. its meant for use with one hand.  hence the touch screen.  using my 5th gen nano, its actually somewhat hard to unlock and scroll around with one hand.  with a touch screen that small, it'd be very easy to navigate everything with a thumb.  though i don't think the removal of video and video recording was a step in the right direction.

either way, i just ordered a 32gb ipod touch.  so w/e.

They removed the camera from the nano, but then they added an HD camera in the Touch, and you can edit and upload your videos straight from it.

they are taking away video recording so they can give it back to you in the next generation nano like they are doing you a favor

$150 for the new nano ROFLLLLLLL

If it had flac support and was about 100$ cheaper I'd buy it, I've always asked for a tiny touch mp3 player like that, I think i even made a topic about it but asking sansa to do it instead because ipods are horrid

Yeah, the new Nano's price is far too high for what you get in my opinion.

I posted my extended impressions of the new iPod lineup on my site. Long story short, I loved the new iPod Touch, was relatively indifferent to the new Shuffle and hated the new Nano.

Well my entire library is Flac.  So, I would not only need to spend $150 apple junk mp3 player, but I'd then need to find and maybe even purchase a FLAC lossless to Apple Lossless converter, then I would need to buy an extra hard drive just to hold the 400gb or so hard drive full of 20 years of CD collecting and converting to flac in recently years...then i would need to spend a solid week of non stop converting just to be able to play all my music on this new ipod,

good lord, apple is just so terrible and doesn't think past their nose, why do audiophiles support apple if apple doesnt support audiophiles?

FAIL APPLE IS FAIL

People on this site make me laugh. Every year it is the same thing about flac and a customisable EQ

Nano losing all those features in exchange for a touch screen on that small form factor seems a strange move but I reserve judgement until I try out the UI. Touch looks great though

Also, apple charges $80 for 24GB and another $100 for another 32GB. Flash memory prices are not so high; this is just apple's price markup.

The worst markup is $100 for the jump from the 16gb iPad to the 32gb versions, but $30 to jump from the 8gb Nano to the 16gb version seems like a decent deal.

Agreed that $150 is too high for the 8gb, but $180 isn't too bad for 16gb.

And isn't the Shuffle at just $49 a low-price breakthrough?
