Ultimate Ears In-Ear Reference Monitors (Capitol Studios Collaboration): Announcement and First... - Page 2

They look great can't wait to see more about these.

Wow... Sounds very interesting...

This could usher in a new age of IEMs.

These sound very neutral with a frequency response that seems very flat, there's no part of the sound spectrum that jumps out and takes attention away from the rest. The soundstaging and imaging is great as well, much better than what you'd expect from an IEM.

And the softer material that increases isolation really works.  On many occasions I've had people come up to me having to raise their voices and then eventually resort to tapping me on the shoulder to get my attention.

Well at least it's cheaper than the JH Audio flagships. We'll have to wait and see about how they compete performance-wise from other members.

Here's hoping for a universal demo model at CanJam. Also, the 1/4" plug makes me sad... so much for portable use.

Isn't the 1/4" Plug just a adapter?

The 1/4" is an adapter as listed on the specification page:

Quote:
Input Connector: 1/4" jack adapter gold plated; 3 pole 1/8" (3.5 mm) standard jack

I'd be very interested to see some sales data regarding the size of the studio market in comparison to that of the consumer.  It sounds like this is a specialty product that isn't intended for our segment of the market.  However, I believe Powderhound said the same thing about the UM3X when it came out and it has proven to be popular here.

May I ask how you came upon a custom pair already? Are you employeed by UE or work in the/a studio? I'm just curious how these get tested in real world applications and by whom. Thanks!

I was lucky enough to be chosen to test a pair for a few months. I just returned them recently and I'm missing them. :(

I primarily used them for portable and home listening.

UE Reference v. ES5.  GO!!  So the material isn't quite silicone.  Any idea what it might be?

Will those cables replace the cables on all of UE's lineup?

Looking at:

http://ultimateears.com/en-us/products/custom-accessories

There are two cables for those ordered before or after september 1.  The new cable seems to be the one for after september 1st.
