Amp recommendation for Shure SRH840's

Need an amp/ DAC for my Shure SRH840s.

Right now my options are:

1. Fiio E7

2. iBasso D2+ Boa

Which one is better? Is the D2+ worth the extra $60?

As far as Amps go, I currently run my SRH840's through a Pa2v2 and they sound great!  I dont run a DAC, what are you using as a source?

I'm using my realtek hd soundcard, so not very good, I think it would be aproppiate to use a DAC too, am I right?

Hmmm, I have no experience with DAC's as my gear is used in a portable setup with my D2/Clip as source.  From what I understand DAC's only make a subtle improvement in sound.  But again, I have not used one, so my opinion is based on hearsay.  If I had to recommend one that you listed, I would go with the ibasso, I have read good things about it.

Hopefully someone with more experience will chime in on the issue...

Anyway, enjoy your SRH840's great sounding cans!

Indeed, they're great cans!

yes you need DAC

and yes Boa is definitely better than E7 for amp performance, unfortunately I never test the E7's DAC.

From what I know, price of D4 Mamba isn't too far from Boa, and absolutely D4 is the best among them. (you also can read it here: http://www.head-fi.org/forum/thread/214588/review-portable-amp-roundup-54-portable-amps-reviewed-and-compared-last-update-8-17-10-added-meier-stepdance )

Radu, how do you have the gain on your PA2V2 set up?  I too have SRH840's going through the PA2V2 and am trying to figure out how to best do the gain.  It seems able to handle high gain but I get static whenever there's no music coming through.
