Hmm...

I would prefer new, but if i can get i much better product used then i would take the plunge at a used product.

But still i would prefer a new product.

x2 on what Radio_head wrote - just search for "AD700" in the amp forum and scourge the sale forums.

If you are using the AD700, then you DO NOT need an amp. It is definitely unnecessary.

That is one of the great things about those, is you don't need an external device to power or improve it. It sounds perfectly fine on it's own, and you will find little if no improvement if you use it with one. Besides, I find playing games with an amp unnecessary as well. I'm more of the "plug and play" after all, it is just a game. Save the good stuff for your home rig, where you actually listen to music.

There's no way for him to control the volume out of the PS3 when using headphones if he doesn't use an amplifier.

Thanks

I know the Dac/amp isn't going benefit me that much...

...But in the future i am going to purchase more demanding headphones for listening to music.

I am currently considering this setup AD700 + http://www.njc-audio.co.uk/html/monitor_i.html or http://www.hifiheadphones.co.uk/project-head-box-ii-headphone-amplifier-in-silver-prodid-592.html

The monitor 1 amp seems better than the PRO-JECT HEAD BOX II HEADPHONE AMPLIFIER.

Whats your thoughts and opinions on this?

Should i be concerned about this :

dolby 5.1 isn't dolby headphones. That's a different codec. You need dolby headphone to be either on the PS3 or on the dac you purchase. I am not 100% sure about how to get this working and I think it would be vital for you to have the most enjoyable experience.

100% more so than any amp or DAC could provide right now.

Hmm....

Can you help me how to get this to work on the PS3 or headphones.

This is my setup i am going to buy :

Ad700 headphone, Bought

Monitor I headphone amp

http://www.cable-trader.co.uk/images...ter%20GOLD.jpg

AV Cable | PlayStation®3 Accessories - PlayStation.com av cable

hdmi for video

This is how it works:

Use the A/V cable

AV Cable | PlayStation®3 Accessories - PlayStation.com

I believe every PS3 comes with one, though the above one is a better looking cable. You can use HDMI for video and have the audio go through RCA

PS3™ | Audio Output Settings

Choose "Audio Input Connector / SCART / AV MULTI" which is RCA output for the audio output settings

Can someone help me work this out?

Thanks

I'm not sure if this is what your looking for, but  I use the Astro Mixamp with PS3 and 360 and it works great with the AD700's.http://www.astrogaming.co.uk/products.asp?id=2670 If your going to want to use your mic with it your'll need this.http://www.astrogaming.co.uk/products-view-all.asp?id=2755
