I'm a big noob with DACs and amps so hopefully someone can shed some light on this for me. I have a pair of HD600s and in the near future I'll be picking up a decent $300-400 amp for them, but I'm wondering how much a dedicated DAC will improve sound quality. I had been planning on using iPhone -> RCA LOD -> Amp -> Headphones for the sake of convenience, but from what I've seen on the forums most people use a computer+DAC as their source. Would I be making a better choice if I shifted some of my budget towards a DAC or getting a DAC/AMP hybrid (something like an Icon HDP) to pair with my laptop?
Any input would be greatly appreciated
