It's alll about the bass (guitar) - favorite bass guitar tracks

So what rock tracks (classic rock, punk / post punk, modern / alt rock, popular rock - whatever) do you keep coming back to primarily or heavily because of the bass?

(To be clear, I'm not talking about bass as in tonal balance or hip hop bass, I'm talking about bass guitar or maybe an actual double bass)

Personally I like melodic / driving bass in songs, but any style of bass is good as long is it's what makes the song (for you).

I'll start off with a few:

Money - Pink Floyd

Another One Bites the Dust - Queen

Transmission / Love Will Tear Us Apart - Joy Division

Modern Romance - Yeah Yeah Yeahs

Slow Hands - Interpol

My favorite bass line is the last minute or so of King Crimson's Starless.

I listened. I was amazed. Great suggestion.

Peter Hook is awesome - I love that he was able to take the traditional role of the bass guitar and expand it in ways that 'classic' bass guitar virtuosos never thought to explore - especially expanding it's role as a strong melodic force in songs.

I'm a big Tool fan, and the bass guitar is such an integral part of their sound.  If I had to pick one, I think Tool's Forty Six & 2 from AEnima is the one song that really exemplifies how the bass guitar is highlighted in a song.  The bass guitar just propels this song toward the climax, picking up pace and intensity as the guitar joins in.

…listened to Elvis Costello's This Year's Model in a friend's car today, and was reminded that Bruce Thomas' basslines really kick those songs in the ass.
