OK, this is really open-ended, but here goes...
I want to go back to having a single pair of headphones, which do everything I want *right*. I'm not even sure such a thing exists, but I want to get as close as possible.
At the moment, I am using :
Grado SR325is - I love the sound of these, but I'm still not 100% convinced of the comfort, and they are completely open back so useless in loud environments.
Sennheiser HD380 Pro - Quite like the sound of these, they are great value for money and portable - but would prefer something higher-end.
... and I want a pair of cans that combine the strengths of those two, into a single set of cans :)
Basically, I'm looking for the following :
1) Reasonable sound attenuation (probably closed back then!)
2) Something that sounds good with rock / metal (that is, something with 'life / energy', not a flat monitoring can)
3) As much detail resolution as possible.
4) Something which doesn't *need* amping (so, I may invest in an amp soon, but for the moment, I don't have one).
5) Cans that will accommodate my large head (ideally not cans which have a very hard clamping force).
... that's it - if you've anything which fits the bill, then I've got cash waiting. I'm only after one pair - you must be able to ship to the UK, and I'd much prefer to send payment via Paypal (from a bank account, not a credit card).
Budget? Well, I reckon I can get about £250 from selling the 325is and one pair of HD380 (I may keep one pair of HD380s for one of my computers) - so £250 is really the most I really want to spend. Can go more if required, but would need to be something special!
