PRaT for Beyerdynamic T1 ... Decware - Violectric - Naim - Woo ?

Thread Starter

Looking for a sub 1500 $ amp for Beyerdynamic T1 headphones.

I love fullbodied sound with fast transient response, PRAT, flow, coherence, instrument separation and image density. Great separation of bassline and well articulated  kickdrum is essential for me. dont care for soundstaging. brightness would be acceptable

Looking at Naim Headline, Violectric HPA V200, Decware CSP2 and Woo3 or  2

SPL Auditor fills most of your criteria. It does give a really big soundstage for the T1 but that maybe doesn´t hurt unless you want it all in your face?

V200 also has no problems with the T1.

Given your budget you can do better than the Naim or Woo3.

Although I don't have the T1 your requirments are easily met by the Woo6se and Audio-gd Roc(I have both)

Given your budget maybe the Phoenix would be even better especially if you want to balance your T1's

I have heard the T1's with Phonitor, would definitely recommend it.

I have the Matrix and the CSP-2 and I can say without a doubt my T1 sounds best with the Decware tube amp. It was designed for high impedance as Steve Deckert is a Beyer fan. I could not recommend a better amp for them. The inexpensive and underpriced matrix does a great job as well but it is not as involving as tubes are with the T1. Its a cant miss IMO amp

Get yourself a Woo 2 with matched pairs of Tung-Sol or Sylvania 7236 power triodes.  End of story.  PRAT up the wazzu.  Bass is precise and awesome.  Kick drums are kick ass.

I'm currently listening to the Rush - Moving Pictures album with my WA2 loaded up with Tungsol 7236 power tubes.  Hands down the best I've ever heard this album sound, and I've already knocked a few pictures off of the wall from playing my air drum set

The WA2 in stock form will be $1,090 delivered to your front door, leaving you over $400 to spend on tubes.  That will buy you just about every favorite power tube you'd ever need, along with some awesome preamp tubes.

I own the T1 and I also own the V200. The V200 has enough power to drive them with no problems at all but even that I love mu V200 the T1 sound better with tubes no question. Even the great RP010B MkII don't make the sound as good as my Woo Audio WA5-LE. Based on your budget I would go wi thteh Woo 2 or WA6 SE.

Austria is not to far from Serbia though. Maybe would be easier to get hold of a Traformatic Head One?

More full bodied then the Auditor, slightly warmer though the Auditor is somewhat "PRaTier"

Just from my collection, I can vouch for the Mapletree Ear+HD tube amp and Meier Audio Concerto. Both are fantastic....though I give the edge to the Mapletree amp.

I like Naim Headline with T1. But haven't tried it with tubes yet..
