Audeze LCD-2 Impressions Thread - Page 317

Sad news, guys... The right driver of my LCD-2 broke. They are non-Fazor and almost 4 years-old. Audeze said driver repairs are done in pairs and usually cost $400, but they won't know the exact price until I send it in. The replacement drivers will be the ones with Fazor.

If it's $400, it doesn't seem to be worth it to repair, right?  (I bought these used for $750.)

Well, even if it's $400, you will have a working pair with latest driver tech. What you have now is worth nothing.

True. I'm setting up the return with Audeze. Hope the repair won't take long.

I might end up selling these once they're repaired, and get a new pair of LCD-2 (I like bamboo and the angled connectors better; currently have rosewood and straight connectors). Or use the old pair in an office or give to my father.

Audeze customer service is excellent in every sense, it makes the investment worth every penny. Highly suggest to send the headphones to them.

The drivers are independent of the Fazor, they're upgrading you for free? I'm confused. The drivers haven't changed since Rev. 2 except to a better, longer lasting material.

I'm not sure what they're replacing. Here's what I asked them if they will be replaced with the new drivers, or just repair what is broken with my current drivers. They said it would be the drivers with Fazors.

Maybe they giving me the latest version of thee Revision 2 drivers. I'm sure it's not a driver upgrade to any of the higher end models.

Maybe they don't ship the latest drivers without Fazor assembly now.

The Fazor is a separate unit, nothing to do with the drivers. I guess they're just trying to push the Fazor upgrade? If you don't want it, ask them about it and you should be able to probably cut $200+ off the price.

The new drivers may be tuned for integration with the Fazor.Take away the fazor, and it knocks the entire sound off (?)

Just guessing, but both were upgraded simultaneously I think.

For those of you who have upgraded your LCD-2's to include the new fazor element, did you ultimately feel the cost and change in sound was worth it?  Just curious, and I realize there has been some discussion about this, but I thought I would ask.  Thanks in advance for any responses :)

Anyone know how much weight the fazors add?
