They have common planar traits, like good bass and overall impact... I preferred my LCD-2 for wearing comfort, all HEs I've tried are just plain odd on my head.

I felt the same. They don't fit snug, just kinda hang there. Kind of an unsettling feeling.

EDIT: I should add that the focus pads do much to fix the fit.

Others already highlighted the similarities but ultimately after the early 400i impressions I went for a used LCD-2.

What put me off these for over a year was the weight issue reported on this site...but I found no weight issue with them and really expected them to be 50% heavier than they are according to the complaining.

What about the He-560? I am having a difficult time deciding on the He-560 or the LCD 2 Fazer.

What is your sound signature preference ? What is up-stream in your DAC/AMP hardware ?

My sound signature preference is more on the warmer side. Punchier bass a little rolled off on the highs. I listen to mostly  of Rock music, but that is not all I listen to.

I will be pairing the headphone with the Geek Pulse Xfi that I should be getting in the coming weeks, but have not heard it yet, although the initial impression at RMAF say it is pretty neutral.

Well, I haven't heard the 560, but LCD-2 is a bomb for rock/metal music...

Thanks. I am leaning more towards the LCD 2, but I haven't seen a comparison between the two of them and just wanted to ask before making the purchase.

I have tried the 560 for two weeks in my home, and compared against the lcd 2 pre-fazor (i am selling it to get a fazor model) the 560 lost. but it definitely had something unique about it, what lost it overall though was that it had a strange slightly hollow sound in the mids, not enough fullness of the bass (although very punchy), and the comfort for me was not very good because the ear pads are too small. it feels almost like an on-ear, my ears just barely fit inside and were touching everything, thats not comfy to me. the weight was better than the lcd 2 though. but I also listen mainly to metal/rock/electronic music and the 560 was good but that slight hollow sound really killed it eventually because even though the treble was better and cleaner and I heard more air and details, it just ended up taking away all the fullness from the music, which when listening to heavy genres of music you need that fullness to feel the full impact of the heavy sound. So I figure the lcd 2 fazor should be just right. I have also tried an hd800 for two weeks and it lost to both the lcd 2 and 560 because it had too much sibilance (but it did have the best comfort and details and soundstage, just not something I could live with for all my audio needs, too picky). So yea eventually after a month of comparing in my own home, I just stuck with the lcd 2, there just isnt really anything that sounds exactly like it in this price range, not until Audeze makes a model to replace it one day.

Hifiman killed the bass in the 400 to achieve the 400i. Did lcd 2 do the same with the fazor model.

No, the Fazor only affects above 300 Hz, which is in the midrange. Bass=great.
