Audeze LCD-2 Impressions Thread

Just got loan LCD 2F for a week. It's definitely improvement compare to LCD2rev3 with bigger imaging and slight cleaner presentation while still remain thick, smooth and no harsh or sibilant at all. This headphone is even more forgiving compare to Oppo PM-1.

Though when I compare it to LCD-X the gap is still there, and it's very easy to pick the winner. The price gap says it clearly after all.

On recent meet I couldn't tell the difference between fazored LCD-2 and LCD-3. Guess I've saved myself $1000.

Which do you prefer between LCD-2F and Oppo PM-1/PM-2.  I am assuming you think LCD-X bests them both.

I guess it was a very noisy place.

Not so much. Even if there was any difference, it was definitely less than the price difference.

For me, the biggest difference was shown in faster sections of music between the 2 and 3, probably due to the thinner 3 driver. And it was a bit wetter. That's about it .

In geeky tear-down mode with my LCD-2s...very easy to de-solder the internal cables vs HFM which is tricky to get at the solder point, but I think the mini-xlr may be epoxied in to the wood cups. There appears to be no nut locking it in on the inside.  I think the dust filters on the outside will be first to go, and use something as thin as tights to replace/seal the grill. The internal cable just looks like generic OFC cabling and seems a shame to buy expensive cables only to have that 25 cents cabling just before the planar termination.

Wish I could hear a Lcd 3 to stop me from wanting to upgrade :D

For my personal preference I choose PM-1 (never heard PM-2, but it's hard to imagine they will sound better than PM-1), I just sold my X few weeks ago.

But I'm fully understand if other people will choose X compare to the other two.

I ordered a Schiit Lyr from someone on the forums, time to see if this "more power" for planars is actually a thing, or a myth!

More quality power is about right for some planars, but the latest F ones look easy to drive.
