Anyway, the LCD-2 paired with the Schiit Mjolnir is still my 'endgame' setup.

I will continue my comparaison with the LCD-X this weekend but so far I prefer the 'darker' sound signature of my LCD-2.

Thanks for the info!

summit-fi is where you get consensus for spending absurd amounts of money without rationality :D

and yes, it's most deceiving the fact of the lcd2 not being regarded as a totl, exclusive product, but the fact is very simple, audeze made only totl products so far, so it's kind of a necessity to draw a line based on the price tag and community trends

but that's great, and couldn't wish for a better thing, the guys at audeze must really be true enthusiasts, straight shooters, love that kind of professionals :D

The LCD-2 are still 'Summit-Fi' for me wink.gif

I have received my pair or LCD-X this week and guess which headphones I have been using most of the time last night....yes the LCD-2.

well i believe the lcd2 balances really well with the schiit mjolnir, however i really would like to hear the lcd-x on it with some screaming metal :)

I just came to ask if anyone has heard the latest and greatest and decided to stick with the LCD2's, I heard the LCD3 but they weren't enough to make me want to upgrade and was wondering about the LCD X, thanks for posting

I've seen a few posters say they prefer the LCD2's to the X's, but the vast majority seem to be in love with the X.  I was able to listen to the X out of the mjolnir/gungir and my Dacmini for about 30 minutes or so at a meet last month.  I don't know that I could really make a definitive statement based on that experience.

The attributes that jumped out at me of the X was its speed (its faster), the bass seams reduced/less than the LCD2, and it sounds more open and less intimate.

I certainly didn't have anything bad to say about the X, and am considering purchasing one.  However I become attached to the different signatures and would probably miss certain things about the 2.  I honestly think it's going to come down to preference.  If you were to pick one and just forget the other existed you could probably be happy with either choice.  Though if you go with the X over the LCD2 you could satiate the new-toy appeal.

Basically my thought is both are good enough.

I demoed the LCD-X at home for a few days courtesy of Justin W.  I prefer the sound signature of the LCD-2 and find it much more enjoyable to listen to.

I love polishing my wood.

comparing to he400 not the he 4 if it helps

Now I hear the details that was blended in the music
The instruments are easier to notice making you more focused
The pick in the highs is gone, no more sibilance (no EQ needed)
A little less bass slam but slightly deeper hitting
The nuances in tracks are more obvious (volume variations, timbres, air)
Less ears fatigue and more forgiving with bad recordings
Comparing to hifiman I like the comfort better

It's not night and day differences but it makes the music more enjoyable with better homogeneity

The sound signature can be called "less fun" but more intimate

It is worth the upgrade imo (i would like to sell my he 400 but since the price dropped so much mad.gif)

Since I got the lcd2 I spend way more time listening to the completes tunes without changing tracks all the time

The point of summit-fi is so more shilling and overhyped/over-rated products can become more popular from various manufacturers on this forum. You should know the ground rule for Head-fi now.

MOAR is BETTAR, you know.

Why don't you get your wife to polish your "wood"? I'm sure it will be sexually satisfying. For both you and your LCD2's.
