Nice! I have a pair of bamboo 2.2's with vegan pads. So it'd be interesting to see your frequency graph. Mine is from September '13, i'll post it here.

New owner of a 2.2 pair from late august, brand new Rosewoods from shop, just been with them for 5 hours so far and these are my impressions:

- As many said before, liquid, yummy and smooooth sound, incredible and awesome.

- I love the mids, Ive been using the Hifiman's HE-500 for a while, and god they have good mids but these LCD-2 dont have any worse, Im loving them.

- The bass is just awesome, not a lot quantity, I was a bit scared about this, just the right amount, a bit more than neutral, but good, very textured and layered, keeps surprising me, I love it!! Good impact, incredible sub-bass.

- Treble, nice, smooth, nothing harshy or fatiging, but I dont feel it lacks in any way, in any style (rock, metal, rb, electronic, pop, classic stuff, instrumental, jazz, vocal...)

- Soundstage is fairly good, enough for me, I know there are HPs with more and wider soundstage like HD800 (tried them, too analytical for me Im sorry) or K701 (own them, lovely for classical but thats it), the soundstage for instrumental stuff like rock, pop or metal is more than enough

- Separation is superb

- Fairly comfy, no problems so far.

I will post more with a good camera! I just have my iPhone now :(

Also my headphones are: he-500, dt880, k701, dt770, grado sr80i, and tried for long hd650, he-400.

amp: matrix m-stage with musical fidelity v-dac II, soon, audio gd nfb-28, the matrix will be in the living room!

I like the Audezes with the Matrix a lot, I think they pair pretty well!

Nice impressions! I share your observations. I hope when you say Matrix you mean X-Sabre. Haha.

Nope haha, I mean M-Stage. I know its not a top notch amp, but its what I have here. Soon, as I said, I will get the Audio GD NFB-28 which pairs very very well with the LCD-2, almost 5w @ 50ohms!

That's really strange, I really disliked the LCD-2's with my M-Stage. Different strokes, I guess!

That's interesting! Yours is a bit straighter than mine. I wonder how much the pads/wood effect the over all frequency graph (not by much is my guess) Thanks Megalomaniak!

And why is that =)? Im pretty sure that with the new NFB-28 they will sound more energetic, deep and open, but so far, im loving them, and thats what matters haha!

Haha, well, Im pretty sure the rosewood doesnt make any difference at all, I just got it because I loved it. I have the leather pads, I wonder how they sound with vegans, but I love the leader, is so comfy and soft haha. I must say I dont believe in graphs pretty much, but well, there it is!

What I love most of these 'phones is the frequency lineality, such lineal and smooth transition between bass, mid and treble... From the deepest of the basses, to the brightest of the trebles!

They sounded flat and dark to me on the M-Stage, even when compared to cheaper amps like the Magni and Vali which sounded more dynamic and detailed when I A/B'd them. When I moved from my M-Stage to my XPA-200, they sounded more detailed, natural, realistic, punchy, the transients were faster, etc. Of course, the XPA-200 moved me closer to my ideal sound, which may not be your ideal sound. Have you tried the LCD-2's with a different amp?

The M-Stage is a damn awesome amp that pairs perfectly with my D7000's and I've heard can do some amazing things for the HD800. However they don't pair well to my ears. It doesn't mean they don't pair well for you, though.

Well, HD800 are not for me, too bright, too analytical, my kind of sound is a darker one, I like the HD650 and I love the LCD-2.

The first LCD-2 I tried were from a friend, who has the Burson Soloist, and to his ears, it sounded similar in my M-Stage than in his soloist! But not, Ive not tried them in any other amp...

To me they dont sound so dark, maybe the first 5 minutes, but now, they sound fairly neutral, with a tad more bass than neutral for me as I said (I have the HE-500) with that famouse Audeze sound and I dont feel that I need more amping, Im just enjoying and loving them haha. Directly from my speaker amp they sound more lazy and dark, but from the matrix, they sound energetic to me, maybe not as they can, we will see!

But, I need another amp for another place, so Ive been looking at the Violectric V200, the Bryston BHA-1 and now, the Audio GD NFB-28 appeared which is a very, very well built amp, neutral, 2 ohm output impedance with loads of power and balanced output, and cheap enough! so I will get it! But first, of course, I'll try it.

For now, I'm happy xD

And that's alright, I never said my preferences were your preferences. :)

With regards to your speaker amp, though, were you powering it from the speaker taps, or from a headphone output on the front?

Oh, yes of course, I understood you.

Mmm, it was the headphone output, which is not very powerfull but it used to drive vintage 600 ohm headphones from my father. I just tried it to noticed the difference, and I noticed, I like this amp with the AKG K701s becuase it softs the treble peaks a bit, but with the Matrix it becomes more live and dynamic.

Anyway, I has thinking in a new amp before getting the LCD-2 (and Ive been after them for a long time xD).

Being able to drive 600 ohm headphones doesn't always mean it can drive 50 ohm headphones, I have a vintage speaker amp meant for that and the headphone output is less than half the M-Stage's output.

Be sure to post pics and impressions when you get your new amp! :D

Well yeah, thats for sure, I just wanted to listen how it sounded xD. LCD-2 or 600ohm headphones sound loud enough, but thats not it, they have to sound full, and the LCD-2 didnt...

I will be getting the new amp in a few months as present for my birthday, until then, me and my m-stage will have a nice time! :D. For sure I will post the newer impresions, I hope they sound as people tells me, hell of an impact, very deep bass, open and live sound! Because if I already love them, in the future I will marry them hahaha.

Good plan man. Enjoy what you have and in the future it'll only get better. Maybe you'll have a little baby too. After you get married. It might be called the LCD-X.:veryevil:

If you're getting the X. Also get the mini-X and also the X-Sabre from Matrix to match everything "X". Haha.

As for this never stopping. It hasn't stopped for me yet so I have no idea. Haha. Enjoy the ride I say!
