Audeze LCD-2 Impressions Thread - Page 143

These lovely phones arrived today:

The Rosewood is beautiful.  Iv'e been listening with them (via the Vio V800 DAC + Schiit Vali amp) for a very short while.. and I'm quite impressed.  The signature is smooth, even handed.. and not lacking in treble to my ears. The Vali seems to pair very nicely with them.  For reference, I'm someone who's owned the HD600 (twice), HE-500 (twice), HD800, the Fischer Audio FA-002w HE (among other Fischer full sized phones).. and currently own the HD650.. which is probably my favorite phones out of those I just listed.  The HD800 is wonderful, too.  I loved all of these phones and still hold them in high regard.. but I think the 650 suits my listening tastes the best, atm.  I find the HE-500 as the natural "upgrade path" for the HD600.. and so far, the LCD-2 seems like the natural upgrade choice for the HD650.

As the year draws to a close, i would say the LCD2 gets my vote as the favorite can in my arsenal...

it is a pleasure each time i put it on..that encapsulating suction of the pads on my ears..

those non-fatigueing creamy notes... pure delight.

Happy new year folks...enjoy your new toy FLYSWEEP...cheers!!!

For those of you with the older rev1 pads - here are two shots of the new pads. They differ in several ways - they are softer, seal better - enough to even get a bit of a suction effect, and the dust protector is also different.

Expect a slight change in sound with a pad swap.

Great sounding, as always

I must also mention that I purchased the new and improved leather earpads for the LCD 2's and they are WAY better than what my Rev. 2's came with (with the wooden angled jacks)...those were pretty stiff and I could never get a good seal....but I can finally get a seal with these new pads and they are SO soft. MUCH better. They make the headphones feel a little lighter as well.

Now, I must say that they are not perfect. The stitching is not perfect and the pads are not exactly the same shape....but that's the price you pay sometimes for getting something that is hand made. Once they got on my head all that did not matter. So, yeah.

I tried on the LCD 3's at an audio show earlier this year and I wished Audeze would make those earpads available for the LCD 2's because as soon as I put them on I was like "Wow, these are soooo comfy!". My wish came true. Highly recommended. Good lookin' out Audeze!

Hello-,

I am looking to upgrade to a proper set of headphone and amp/DAC and thought about lcd-2 and WOO WA7. Are these two compatible and well matching? My source is MacBook pro and I mostly want it to listen to melodies, classical, vocals, bluz, soundtracks and progressive.

Any and all advices are welcome and aperciated.

Thanks.

I feel the same way, the LCD-2 is the natural upgrade to the HD 650.

Just received these today.  Only burned them in for maybe 8 hours.  Sounds fantastic.  IMO, much better than HE500.  LCD2 is the first full size headphone that's allowing me to bond with the music.  The resolution is astounding.  There's nothing about the sound to complain about.  And, it will continue to improve with more hours?

At first, I wasn't sure I was going to keep them because of how uncomfortable they are to wear.  But, after bending the head band a bit, the weight is now evenly distributed across my noggin.

It sounds great even with an Audioengine D3.  Sounds fantastic with my greatech muvac.  Waiting to receive a Pan Am next week.

I actually wanted to get the bamboo with microsuede.  I don't like the feel of leather.  But, those were sold out.  The leather on this is pretty good, but it's still a bit sticky to my skin.  People here prefer the microsuede over the leather?

Did you bend the headband to be more "flat?" I had a tough time getting the weight evenly distributed.

Regarding leather vs microsuede...it all comes down to preference. The sound is not very different between the two so it just depends on what you find more comfortable. Seems like you fall into the later camp.

Just bend at the two spots I circled.   Bend inwards.  So, more weight will be distributed to the spots where the circles are when wearing them.

Do not bend them flat!   That will have the opposite effect.

^^ Thanks for the info. If I decide to give the lcd2 another try I'll remember to give this tweak a shot.

Hm...it would have to be something with great vocals and made use of the bass extension. Possibly Muddy Waters: My Home is in the Delta.
