Audeze LCD-2 Impressions Thread - Page 121

I still prefer the TH600 and TH900 for EDM/Hip Hop than a EQed LCD2.2. I guess I might be trending into bass head territory here when I don't feel the LCD2.2 have the impact or bass rumble that I aim for in electronic.

However I much prefer the LCD2 bass and maybe a bit less at time for some rock genres.

+1, exactly how I feel about the subject.

Anyone notice a coloration on the LCD-2 in the low sibilance region? Not S sounds, but F sounds or CH sounds. I first noticed this while listening with the Hifiman EF5 amp and thought it was my amp, until I listened again on my other amp (Woo WA6SE) and realized sure enough, it was there, just more subtle.

The treble in my older LCD-2s was somewhat rough. I wouldn't call it sibilance, but just rough treble. My new LCD-2 is silky smooth, not as silky as the HE-500, but dangerously close.

Amplification can play a great deal with sibilance. Listen to your LCD2's off some good solid state (not tubed) and you won't hear it.

I hear it the most on the Hifiman EF5 which is a hybrid amp with a solid-state output stage and presumably very low output impedance. I have experimented with the input stage 12AU7 in the Hifiman and although I can change the tonal balance quite a lot, that coloration is always there. Hence my suspicion it's in the headphone.

Not that it's a bad headphone! My favorite by far. But everything deviates from perfection. My wish list for the LCD-2 includes more air and high treble.

I wish for this too, I have taken my LCD rev.1's modded to a certain extent but they are still lacking a bit.

I just purchased a pair of LCD-2's, coming in a few days.  Anyone try their's on a woo wa5?  I hear they like a lot of juice, anyone try them in the K1000 jack?

I believe the WA5 is good. At least you're not trying to power them from and portable amp or an ipod like some people.

Finally found the CIEM version of the LCD-2's. The Dream Earz AUD-7X.

Whens the last time the LCD-2 went on sale new? So basically for less than ~$1000
