Well done.  Enjoy those bad boys.  You earned them.

First impressions.

-Bamboo feels much lighter than rosewood for some reason, improves comfort. It also feels less brittle and looks like it won't chip as easily.

-Bamboo looks better in person, although I'm not sure I would choose it over rosewood. I can certainly see some people choosing it over rosewood.

-The Sound!: Strangely the first thing that strikes me is that it sounds surprisingly balanced. I was expecting to be hit by overwhelming bass and feel stuffy by the severely recessed upper-mids, but none of these things happened. The bass was tight of course, but not really overwhelming as I remember my other LCD-2s, and the upper-mids while still being recessed were much less recessed than what I remember. So what am I trying to say? I think my LCD-2 is closer to neutral than before. While I would hesitate to say it's neutral I would say it's one or two steps closer than before and now the signature approached the HE-500 even more closely. What they gave up was that the mids are tad drier now, not as wet/lush anymore while overall it sounds more balanced out--more air and smoother treble. The mids are still nice of course and still can be considered lush/juicy, just not as much as my previous LCD-2s.

Interesting... I'll keep burning them in and see if my initial observations change.

In terms of technicalities, like transient response, imaging, soundstaging, nothing has really changed from the 2012 version I had. It's about the same technical wise, but the slight tonality shift has me surprised. Not sure if I'm happy about this since I bought the LCD-2 to experience the coloration again...

Did you have the Emo with your first pair as well?

Good Question. Nope. But I did have my vintage Onkyo receiver, which does 70 Watts into 8ohms. However I was not using the speaker taps but the headphone jack. I'm actually not driving the LCD-2 from my Emo yet. My balanced cable should be coming in next week sometime. So for now, I'm just using the Onkyo reciever and also plugging in the HE-500 to the receiver for comparison since I do have a single-ended adapter for the HE-500 balanced cable.

*What I haven't tried yet is the speaker taps of the vintage receiver to my HE-500, but the headphone out sounds super powerful and I think it's actually conntected directly to the binding posts.

** I did have my Lyr/Bifrost at the time and that's pretty much what I was using. I can't wait to use the LCD-2 using the Emo/Concero

Hmm... I just took out my frequency response curve Audeze included and compared to other graphs I've seen:

my LCD-2 has noticeably more energy from 6k to 9k, which would explain why  I feel like these are much closer to neutral.

Too lazy to take photo right now, but will get around to it. I might have lucked out and gotten the only non-dark LCD-2. biggrin.gif This frequncy response curve looks ideal to me.

I will have to charge people if I gave out my secret recipes. Heck I've even had my rev.1's measured, frankly said it is consistently better than the LCD3's.

Don't be so modest, keep your recipes but elaborate for those of us who are doubtful of such claims.

I only have r1s frown.gif
Oh well I love them.
Dubstep Girl, did I see you part somewhere in her that the wa3 is a good match for the lcd2?
I am debating whether to buy a hm602 dap or a desktop amp.
So many things to buy. So little money

WA6-SE would probably be the better option

WA3 would be a really bad match for LSD-2.

I'd love to see some pictures of frequency charts. I remember mine seemed different, but I can't remember. I'll post a picture when I get the chance.

nope. WA6-SE is great with LSD2 though,  definitely not WA3 nor WA2 (though some people have reported decent results with WA2).
