Please post results, I am very interested in doing this. Also, I saw this on Gizmodo yesterday or the day before.
I saw it on Gizmodo too, but some people, who said they are audio engineers, health experts said that it would be un-safe to do it yourself. And I find not point in faking themselves as experts and they faking you that its bad. Just be careful.

I think the safety issue stems from the fact that an audiologist or doc is trained to recognize problems in your ear, BEFORE you begin the molding process. Sure, the kit might cost $7.50. But the cost of new ears dominates the cost of a set of molds from the audiologist.
