Baker-Fi

How many of you like to bake?  I find it very relaxing, and love sharing the goodies with my family, girlfriend and friends.

If you have pictures of some of your creations, please post them and describe what it is.

This is the first cheesecake I've ever made.  We will be eating it tomorrow night.  It's a chocolate cheesecake with a sweet sour cream chocolate glaze, garnished with thick white chocolate curls and semi-sweet chocolate shavings. The crust is made from chocolate wafers (among other things, including shaved white chocolate).  On top of the crust is a layer of partially melted white and dark chocolate shavings.

Last week I made a really good key lime pie (with fresh squeezed key limes and homemade whipped cream), but didn't take any pictures.

I bake with my girlfriend sometimes, it's pretty fun to make some cookies.

I don't bake but I just wanted to say that that cheesecake looks delicious!

I bake fairly often, though mostly breads, pies and scones/biscuits.  I've been trying to learn how to make French macarons lately, but I haven't been been happy with the results after a few attempts.

Yum.

Now where's Spritzer?

About a month ago I took this picture - steaming fresh out of the oven. The meat was very tender and the skin was slightly crispy. Yum!

Here are two more cheesecakes I made since the first post:

Ultimate Chocolate Cheesecake

Ultimate Chocolate Cheesecake: Chocolate wafer crust dusted with semi-sweet chocolate and then melted,

covered in rich chocolate cheesecake filling, topped with sweet sour cream chocolate glaze, and garnished with

white chocolate stripes.

New York Cheesecake

Super New York Cheesecake (click to enlarge)

Coming this weekend is a Neopolitan Cheesecake; a triple layer, strawberry, chocolate and vanilla

cheesecake made with strawberry liquer, creme de cacao, and vanilla cognac, sitting atop a chocolate

and creme wafer crust, and finished with stripes of strawberry, chocolate and vanilla glaze.

the chocolate on those strawberries looks like it came out of temper :(  has it been particularly hot there in LA?

tip for making the top one look prettier:  run a knife through the top, perpendicular to the lines.  then it doesnt matter that the lines are not perfectly straight, as you'll get this cool effect:

(nevermind that this is a napoleon, the point remains)

I do not bake, as I have a bakery providing all the goods I need just 50 meter down the road.

But I sure am a bit stunned by your creations. Very well done! :-D

Goodness! Those look amazingly good! Keep 'em coming!

(Maybe I should stop coming to this thread -- I almost licked the screen)

I enjoy baking but don't do it unless there is a birthday, holiday, or some other occasion.  Usually its just cookies and cake.  Around the holidays my mom commissions me to bake her a ton of cookies that she then takes to work, church, parties, etc.

The strawberries were fine.  It is hot here in L.A. county (well, my city is anyway) but I keep everything refrigerated.

The pattern you are talking about, which I will do in the future, is extremely hard to do with white chocolate since it hardens rather quickly.  But I want to buy some special decorating utensils.  I just need to find out if they are even made.
