MaverickAudio D1 vs. Dared MP5

Sort of confused whether to post this here in the DAC section or the Amp section, as these two can be used as both DAC and Amp.

But anyway, who has had a chance to listen to and compare these two? Most preferably someone who has owned both for some time, which may be a tall order.

Both are hybrid tube designs though there are some differences in the usage, both are also capable of processing a digital signal directly and converting to analogue. Both are also more or less same price, though the MP5 has some extra features (like speaker output) which the D1 doesn't have unless you pair it with the A1 (which doubles the price).

Anyway has anyone had experience with both? And post an analysis or comparison of the sound signature and DAC capabilities?

Thanks

small bookshelf speakers also an be connected directly to the D1 if I'm not mistaken. Check the D1 thread ;-)

Ah alright. Well do we have any comparisons between these two?

Only if they are self-powered speakers.  Otherwise, I think you are thinking of the Maverick A1, which does have speaker outs.
